The Benefits Of Weekly Meal Planning

By Lolita Jacobs

Weekly meal planning can be a satisfying thing to do in many ways. It can help you to save some money, lose weight, and it can change your cooking and eating habits in a positive way for your lifestyle.

As you begin to make shopping lists, you should do so with local adds in front of you and plan on shopping at several stores. This way you can do your best to save money when shopping. You will likely find that different stores have different sales, and if you combine your shopping between several of them, including local markets, bakeries and butchers, you can save potentially significant amounts of money.

Buying fresh local meats and produce has it's own benefits. Generally the food will be fresher and taste better. Also you will be paying taxes back into local farms, thus helping a community farmer.

Losing weight is another possibility. The more time you spend looking through your shopping and cooking the meals you planned, the more opportunities you have to remove bad fats and add vegetables and fruits. The desire to eat out can decrease when you have food at home. It is pretty easy to add a calorie count to your planner, and with good choices losing some of those extra pounds is possible.

Another possible plus is in learning to cook new things. When shopping for sales and shopping for local foods in season, you may find less familiar foods. Whether a master chef or a novice with some interest, you can hop online and find recipes for many new dishes. Don't be afraid to experiment. The more you can cook, the richer your weekly planner will become.

A little organization can go a long way. You may find it benefits your pocketbook, your waistline, or your culinary skills and habits. It can certainly have an effect on your lifestyle.
